How Many Appetizers per Person?

It’s a struggle to know how much food any one person will eat, so as a rule of thumb for appetizers, it’s always good to give people options. After all, you don’t want people to fill up before a meal, but you also want to give people a choice. You’ll know your guests the best and how much they enjoy eating, but a good number is 2-3 appetizers per person. This gives them options whilst also not being too much food.

Are Appetizers and Sides the Same Thing?

Despite having similar portion sizes, sides and appetizers are very different in their purpose at a party. Appetizers are usually meant to prepare your guests for a meal and are often smaller versions of a full meal, like sliders that they can stand alone with no other dishes to accompany them. Snack mixes are also great appetizers if you’re not sitting down to a full meal and having a buffet or party food, instead. On the other hand, sides are meant to complement a dish, such as fries with a burger or a salad with chicken.
